Friday was a very big day for us at our Secrett’s Farm Shop cafe as we waved farewell for now to our absolutely wonderful cafe manager Evie, as she heads on maternity leave. We couldn’t be more excited to have a new Coffee Can baby amongst us (and you best believe that we’ve put ourselves very highly on the list for the priority of who to contact for first cuddles), but we cannot deny that we will miss having Evie about day-to-day SO much.
Evie joined the team in February 2024 as a shift supervisor, but very quickly became an absolutely integral member of the team by going above and beyond for every Coffee Can situation that arose (and trust us, there are some random ones). So, when the opportunity for promotion arose, it was a no-brainer that Evie took the reigns of the cafe. She makes us laugh, she make’s sure stock rotations are done thoroughly, and she produces some absolutely stellar latte art. That’s right, Easter Bunny Latte Art Champion of 2025.
She has quickly become such a loved member of the local community, and it brought a tear to pretty much everyone’s eyes when one of our lovely regulars dropped by last week with some hand-knitted clothes for the upcoming addition to Evie’s family.
Some may say the stripes reflect gender, we say that perhaps they’re reflecting Coffee Can blue 😉
The new Coffee Can Baby will be ready to go into autumn, as our endlessly talented Pavilion cafe manager Laura whipped up this stunning crochet blanket behind the Pavilion counter too! Many of our regulars know the familiar sight of walking into the Pavilion of an afternoon and having Laura jump from behind the counter with yarn in hand. She worked endlessly to create this ahead of the start of Evie’s maternity leave, and we were all blown away by how soft it was.
Do not worry, Evie will be back after her maternity leave finishes! But it’s understandable that with just a few weeks until the big due date, getting back into the swing of work next year isn’t quite on the top of Evie’s mind at the moment.
We just want to thank Evie so much for all the hard work she puts into helping The Coffee Can week-in, week-out – let alone with the added element of being pregnant! As we’ve already said, we are going to miss having her behind the machine at Secrett’s so much, but it will all be worth it when we each get a chance to cuddle the new one, and have catch ups with Evie.
