Reminder: Mother’s Day is looming!

Our Pavilion cafe on Bourne Green sees it’s fair share of Mums every day. Whether it’s mums-to-be and new mums dropping by Polly’s midwife clinic on a Tuesday morning, grandparent’s looking after the grandchildren when childcare has cancelled last minute, mums wearing their warmest layers to stand by the side of a football pitch on a Saturday morning, or mums grabbing five minutes of peace and quiet whilst the kids are at school, we know them all to well. Heck, we even have our very own Coffee-Can-Mum Cathy working here behind the counter every now and again! So we get it, mums are incredibly important, and they absolutely deserve a bit of celebration at the end of the month.

So we got thinking, how could we offer a hand to those unsure how to gift some extra love to their mum this Mother’s Day (30th March, don’t forget!). We may be bias, in fact we almost certainly are, but we have seen how much joy a simple cup of coffee and a catch up can make a Mothers day, so today we present to you how you can bring a little bit of Coffee Can into gifting this year.

A Coffee Can Candle

When we first introduced these candles, they were flying off the shelves at both of our cafes. A candle to bring the scent of freshly roasted coffee into your own home?! What could be better.

For us, the scent evokes the feeling of sitting down in a cozy cafe with a book in one hand and latte in the other. It’s comfort, it’s familiarity, and it smells absolutely delicious.

Our handmade soy candles are produced by one of our wonderful neighbours Maz! A bit of a lockdown project that grew into a true skill, Maz uses the same coffee as that served in our shops for the beans sitting on top of her tinned candles. They look wonderful on a desk as a decoration, but smell even better.

Available at both of our cafes in the run up to Mother’s Day!

Coffee Beans

Here’s an idea for a gift for the mums-to-be – a 250g bag of our DECAF coffee from River Coffee Roasters, all set and ready to help them wake up in the mornings after those long nights that pregnancy can bring on. Of course we know there isn’t any caffeine to wake them up, but there is something about the familiarity of a good cup of coffee that genuinely works wonders for those who find themselves in a point in life when they simply cannot have the caffeine.

Our team of baristas can recommend how to prepare the coffee so it’s tasting just like it does in our shops, but we also recommend using it as a nice morning cafetiere for an easy start to the day.

Gift Certificates

We see so many mums come through the shop doors each day that are pretty much daily regulars. So why not use Mothers Day as a chance to see them through a week of coffees without having to reach for the purse.

We offer physical gift certificates which can be picked up at either of our cafes. They are signed off by whoever is working behind the counter and can have any value added onto them. We can help you work out the price of your mum’s go-to order, whether it be for one day or several. It’s the thought that often counts, so if you’ve thought ahead for their next coffee run, you’re bound to be in their good books.

Bring them by for coffee and cake!

Honestly though, when it comes to it, there is no gift quite like time spent together. So this Mothers Day, if it’s an option, why not take some time over the weekend to arrange a morning coffee with your mum? Take some time to pop by and see her local coffee spot, buy the cake to share even if she insists she’s okay without, and have a proper catch up over a good cup of coffee.

Both of our cafes will be open from 9.30am on Mothers Day, where we’ll be ready to greet all with a welcoming smile and espresso underway!
