Look, the clue is in the blog title – today we are here to announce the launch of our ALL NEW breakfast and lunch menu in our Milford cafe. Brunch has never looked so epic in Godalming.
When we took over the cafe at Secrett’s Farm Shop in the summer of 2023, we embarked on opening our first premise with a full kitchen. Whilst our vans and Pavilion takeaway bar have always had home-baked cakes and savouries a plenty (thanks to the work of Ellie at hellobakehouse), we had never operated a cafe with its own dedicated kitchen team.
Our first year saw us explore all sorts of menu avenues. We drew inspiration from the menu the previous owners had used for years, listened to what regulars loved and also listened when they made suggestions about what additions they’d like to see.
Then, in 2024, our current chef Gareth joined the team. A burst of energy bringing fresh ideas and flavours to the (literal) table, Gareth quickly started to brainstorm ideas as to how the Secrett’s Cafe menu could be elevated to bring a whole new set of offerings to the people of Milford, Godalming and beyond.
So lets take a dive through some of the food items that now feature on our coffee shop menu. We’re still refining and tuning in some of the flavour pairings, so please do forgive us if you find we update this blog as-and-when fresh ideas spark.
Our new menu features three main sections: we’ve got the Coffee Can Breakfast (served from open until midday), the Tea Room Classics (served from 12.15pm – 3pm / 2.30pm on Sundays), and the All Day Nibbles and Pancake Stacks.
A note: we do close our kitchen briefly from 12pm – 12.15pm to allow the kitchen to reset between food services. During this time, we invite you to grab a drink and have a peruse of the menu for a moment, and we’ll be with you as soon as lunch is ready to kick off.
Coffee Can Breakfast
We’ve got some absolute new stars of the show at breakfast – we’re talking fully-loaded bagel stacks using Jacob’s Bagels, Mushroom and Chorizo Hash topped with a fried egg, Granola, and more.
Our personal pick: a Brekkie Bagel Stack (thats sausages and bacon from Black Barn Butchers, sliced tomato, a fried egg, and garlic and herb sautéed mushroom with our house sauce) WITH Mushroom Potato Hash as a side. It’s the breakfast of champions, but what really seals the deal for us is that the side of Potato Hash comes with its own Quail’s Eggs so that it doesn’t miss out on all that Fried Egg goodness!
Tea Room Classics
Onto lunch, and expect to arrive to the scent of focaccia baking away – is there any way other to make you more hungry than you already were?! We’ve kept some of our original lunch time classics (we’re talking all the toasties, but special shout out to our Tuna Supreme with chilli jam that has quickly gained a cult following), but we’ve elevated the menu with loaded focaccia, and Gareth’s BBQ Pulled Pork Brioche.
Our personal pick: The Roasted Pepper Focaccia really hits the spot thanks to it’s hazelnut and watercress pesto. But we really cannot pick just one option here so we recommend finding someone who wants to go half-and-half with you to order the BBQ Pulled Pork Brioche too – the apple and celeriac remoulade completes it.
All day long
Our classic homemade Sausage Rolls haven’t gone anywhere, and neither have our Ham and Cheese Croissants. But there are some new faces to elevate the menu, including our homemade Banana Bread served with Mocha Butter (yep… using our house espresso).
A menu section that really deserves its own shout out though is our brand new pancake station. Gareth has perfected the fluffy American Pancake recipe, and brings you Caramelised Banana & Biscoff, Bacon and Maple, and Berry and Maple with Greek yoghurt. They are utterly divine, and just as filling as you think they’re going to be.
